Lil Uzi Vert with BABYMETAL on “The End” Song of “Pink Tape”

Avant-garde American rapper Lil Uzi Vert collaborates with J-Rock sensation BABYMETAL for The End song. On June 30, Lil Uzi Vert released the album Pink Tape on multiple digital platforms which features an array of club music, trap metal, and pop hybrids.

Appropriately, The End comes in last before the bonus tracks on the recent release of 26 total songs. Regardless, it delivers a showstopper of upbeat melodies and downbeat trance-like techno. The unique styles of each performing artist stand out obviously, yet blend in a fun fusion. As Lil Uzi Vert raps and shouts between the beat drops, BABYMETAL’s energetic vocals chime in over a heavy metal chorus. The rapper known for galaxy-smashing rap-rock is surely a fan of BABYMETAL.

While Lil Uzi Vert is typically listed as a hip-hop and rap artist, they have garnered a reputation as a “punk” rapper. The scope of Pink Tape demonstrates an artist willing to push genre boundaries. For example, the cover of System of a Down’s Chop Suey! where the rapper faithfully recites the metal song. Plus, another collab with the metal band Bring Me The Horizon on Werewolf. Even Rolling Stone found, “It’s superhero theme music from an anime-worshiping genre apostate — an album of light-cycle chases and samurai clashes set to Def Leppard shredding.”

Also noteworthy, DAIDAI from Paledusk composed and arranged The End song. For sure, a breathtaking and well-composed tune that is enjoyable in the moment. But will it satisfy or split fans of trap metal or kawaii metal?
